Renée was originally born and raised in Larchmont, NY outside of New York City. She and her family have resided primarily in the Richmond, VA area for the past 23 years.
Renée started her career in Citibank’s International Private Banking (IPB) division and later joined its National Expansion team. Chemical Bank then recruited Renée to work with its retail division at a time it needed to be restructured.
In 1990, Renée moved from the New York area to help further her husband’s career and start a family. She has done project work since then, and enjoys the challenge of fixing failing businesses and starting new businesses.
When her husband was diagnosed in 2007 with ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease, Renée became his primary caregiver and lovingly cared for him until his death thirteen months later.
Since then, her passion has been for helping others and preparing them to become caregivers. She and her children volunteer with the ALS Association and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Additionally, Renée has been awarded the opportunity to speak and teach on caregiving, and how to manage your own health.
When Renée has free time, she enjoys sailing, needlepointing, and swimming laps. She also plays the piano and the harp, and is a huge fan of traveling with her children.
Speaker, Educator and Author: A Million Tiny Things, My Experience in Caregiving.
Renée’s self-published book serves as a guide to the 29% of adults in the U.S. who are currently serving as unpaid caregivers.
Renée and her children are beginning their tenth year of visiting nursing homes with their therapy dogs. They have two Bernese mountain dogs and a Maltipoo.
