George retired from the Internal Revenue Service in January, 2006 after 36 years of service. During his time with the IRS, he served as a Revenue Agent, District Conferee, and Appeals Officer. He became an Associate Chief in the Appeals Division in 1987, later advancing to the position of Chief of the Virginia and West Virginia Appeals Offices of the IRS in 1997.
Since retiring, he has worked for Walker Consulting Group, a CPA firm, and has taught income tax classes for the IRS and the Virginia Tech Tax Seminars to accountants, CPAs, and Enrolled Agents.
Because of his extensive experience in examining tax returns and settling issues for the IRS, George will be an invaluable resource to clients who might need a little “divine intervention” to mediate tax issues that have become troubling.
George is married to Sherri Rose Gretes, a retired nurse practitioner. George has lived in Mechanicsville, VA for 40 years and is the proud parent of three daughters: a registered nurse, a criminal defense attorney, and a school teacher.
When he is not working, George loves building things and woodworking. He enjoys cooking, specifically Greek dishes, and loves to travel. In his travels, George has visited Hawaii, Canada, England, Ireland, France, Greece, and Italy.
